After having a Meerkat crossover pipe sitting around for many months I finally found time to install it.
I've got short TORs and a hiflow filter and the triumph TOR tune installed so started the bike and I noticed it was a fair bit louder and really barked when I hit the throttle.
So I decided to loaded a tune with TuneECU, I have a Storm so I put in a 1700 tune and went for a ride.
The new tune did quieten it down a bit, but had a bit of overrun popping, but not if I accelerated and slowed down normally ( I wear ear plugs anyway as I hate wind noise so I don't care to much), but did notice my engine warning light stayed on.
So I had a look at some other tune and noticed that all the tunes seem to be map 20310 which is SAI on and O2 off. The standard TOR is 20360 is SAI off and O2 on.
Is there a reason why everyone seem to use the 20310 map, has anyone post a moded version of the20360 map. I am using the TarkMalbot_PC tune at the moment.
Thanks TarkMalbot
I did turn of the SAI and reset the adaptations and all seem ok now in regards to the warning light.
Something else I notice was, when I first took a TBird for a test ride was how stable it was a low speed and easy it was to chuck around for a heavy bike, so when the storm came up I though with that 1700 engine you can't go wrong and I bought it no test necessary. I got the dealer to put on the short TORs and after riding it home, it just didn't seem the same as the standard TBird, not as quite stable but I knew I could live with it because it was still a great bike to ride. Now after the decat, that balance I was missing is back and it just seems easier to chuck around a corner now. Maybe it's just me but is like having a new bike again.

Hey Reever, I just installed the Meerkat on my 2011 1600 (short TORS and hi flow filter, TORS tune) and couldn't be happier. I posted my experience in th exhaust section here Link
Like you, my first ride on the TBird had me impressed with how stable and willing to turn it it was... I was sold!

Cheers,
Ian

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the 20360 is a TOR tune, I'm pretty sure it's just the standard 1700 factory tune. The description in TuneECU says to use this tune with production silencers. I'm using tune 20363 (use with aftermarket silencers) now and it seems to be working pretty well. I was using the 20360 tune, but after I performed my de-cat and de baffled my stock mufflers it leaned out way too much and I started to hear some engine knock.

Yes you are correct a typo on my behalf, I did mean the 20363 map

I can definitely vouch for the Meerkat system. I have a 2010 1700 with the Meerkat bypass.
. I initially purchased SS elbows and ran them, however I could only stand the raspy sound for a day and re-installed the cat.

After looking at numerous options i finally decided on purchasing a Meerkat bypass. I contacted Peter from Meerkat and within in a week i had received my purchase.

What a difference. definitely a little louder when idling and cruising but when you crank the throttle the bike absolutely roars and it's not obnoxious, especially compared to the straight through elbows, couldn't be happier.

I'm only running the short tors high-flow filter tune, and so far there does not appear to be the need for an aftermarket tune. The Bike pops on deceleration anyway and is accentuated with the modification but this does not worry me.
